ms CRYSTAL SYMPHONY - STUNNING!

Crystal Cruises ms Crystal Symphony has recently undergone a $25 million makeover. Stunning even before the re-do, she is now quite spectacular.  The most striking changes are apparent on the top decks.  The Seahorse and Neptune Pool Decks feature attractive white deck furniture accented with citrus-hued cushions and throw pillows and an extra-large Jacuzzi. The Lido Cafe area is simply stunning, with exceptionally attractive earth-tone tables and chairs and food stations in place of the standard buffet line. "Mainly what we wanted to achieve is that we prepare everything fresh and in front of the guest", said Toni Neumeister, Crystal's vice president, food and beverage. Crystal amenities and options such as guest lecturers, entertainment, and customer service are the best in the business and each sets the line apart from others on the high seas.

LEGENDARY BHUTAN  -   February 4 - 24, 2011
You asked us....
Are you able to describe the most strenuous activity?

There really are no horrible demands placed on group members on this tour – most members will find travelling in Europe more difficult. In Europe, you must walk from coach stations into city center's as coaches have been barred from many central areas. Here coaches are small and can take you most everywhere. The difficult times will mostly be optional, walks that you can choose to join if you wish. There will be some places where you need to climb short distances to get into buildings and you may experience some of the affects of the altitude but those should not affect most people (you are not going that high). The most strenuous walk will likely be on Feb 12 when you hike to view the Taktsang Monastery – the climb is about 250 metres up an incline – some group members may choose not to make that walk but it takes you into the quiet forest.
The other walk will be on Feb 15 when you walk overland (mostly level and sometimes through fields) to Chimi Lhakhang Monastery – again it could be considered an optional walk, for this who are not strong walkers but it is certainly not a difficult walk. The trip has been planned to meet the needs of our clients.
Why travel in February instead of March or April?
The tour has been designed to coincide with an important festival, the Punakha Tshechu which runs from Feb 13 – 15. This is a very colourful gathering of the people, full of dances, music and hundreds of Bhutanese all decked out in their finest clothes. At a festival in Bhutan, the people come from miles around, arriving from their homes in the remote mountains, and camp out to see and to be seen. They are virtually always in traditional dress and wearing their most colourful and best clothes. The days are full of parades and dancing – a photographers dream event. This is one of the best festivals of the year.  And at this time of year, we should find the clearest weather – crystal clear skies.

HOLLAND AMERICA CONTINUES "SIGNATURE OF EXCELLENCE" PROGRAM
Holland America
continues to expand and evolve its Signature of Excellence program with the recent 17-day drydock of the ms Ryndam which underwent changes, including the addition of the Canaletto Italian restaurant concept originally on the Eurodam. Total spent on onboard enhancements has now surpassed $525 million.

TOUR LEADERS - OUR BEST AMBASSADORS
Tour Leader, Nick Cannon, sent this note to a friend who is contemplating a tour to the South Pacific.
"My  book of photos from our latest tour will give you a sense of what terrific detail went into our latest tour and the tremendous value. I'm not on commission - just sold on every aspect of a Craig tour.
I am very biased, but have very good reason to be. One of the main advantages of a Craig tour is that everything is included. Including being picked up at your home and taken to the airport (and home again afterwards); ALL tipping; complete insurance; a tour leader who ensures everything runs smoothly and tends to hic-ups along the way, if there are any (individually and as a group); local guides at every destination; five star hotels; terrific restaurants and five star transportation (When we went we flew Air New Zealand who were exceptionally good) and many more "features". I think the best thing is that the ~type~ of people in the groups we have travelled with are very much like us. Invariably, a nice bunch to travel with; just the sort of people we discussed yesterday.
Enough of the salesmanship. I'm not telling you all this for any reason other than I know you could do no better. If you want to go to Australia and have a tour there, then I want you to have the best and get the best value. As I said yesterday, we have been with Craig to China, South America, Russia, Europe, Egypt, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia and other places and NEVER been disappointed.
The Craig web site is at http://www.craigtravel.com   I suggest you go to "Destinations" click on "Escorted Tours" and scroll down to "Australia and New Zealand". Click on the tour and you will get all the details.. I also suggest after that, you go back to their home page and click on "useful information" and then click on "Inclusive Features". Good stuff."

CAMPING IN THE SERENGETI .or .LUXURY IN THE BUSH
Nothing can be compared to the experience of camping in the heart of the African bush, in the Serengeti.  The thrill of nestling in pure nature, the small of the bush and the distant calls of wildlife at night, the lights of tropical sunset, the tales around the campfire under the stars!  There is no better way to enjoy the sounds, the aroma and the heartbeat of Africa then camping in the bush.
The newly launched Kuhama Camp offers guests the experience of this rare communion with nature, combined with comfort and service so incredibly fine in the midst of the Serengeti bush.  "This is the way to experience nature in luxury" commented a guest who stayed at Kuhama Camp recently.
The name Kuhama is a Swahili word that means "to move".  Kuhama Camp will literally be relocating according to the movement of the wildebeest and other migratory animals and the seasonal concentration of wildlife.  From mid December to the end of March the camp will be located in Ndutu (Ngorongoro Conservation Area) in an area filled with Acacia trees and enjoying a magnificent view.
15 spacious walk-in tents are tastefully furnished with beds and bedside tables made of tropical hardwood, mattresses, pillows fine bedding including duvets, natural sisal rugs, lamps, luggage rack and safari armchairs and table on the verandah.  The ample windows with mosquito netting keep the tents well ventilated and insect-free. All of the tents have ensuite bathrooms with dressing table, bucket shower and wash basin and flushing toilet.
A typical day on safari starts with a soft wake-up call before sunrise, with an early morning coffee, tea or hot chocolate and pastries served on the verandah of your tent.  Full breakfast, lunch and candle-lit dinner will be served in the spacious mess tent or alfresco in the bush.

FROM OUR MAILBOX
It was a pleasant surprise to open your letter and read what you are doing for my wife and I.  Thank you for the support you have given me over this whole issue when I had to cancel my trip last year.  You have restored my faith that there are good people out there who believe in fair play.  I look forward to future tours with Craig Travel because they are people with a heart and that reflects in the service they provide to their customers.  Thanks again.  SW, Peterborough

Hi Folks – a quick note to say we had an absolutely fabulous trip with Jill from Paris to Munich via Oberammergau - our best Craig itinerary yet. We would travel with Jill anywhere - could you send her to Russia next fall, please?  We are very interested in the Russian Waterways cruise, Sept 5, 2011, and have tried to make the trip work for us several times. This may be the year! MS

Pam and Nick were exceptional and would love to travel with them again.  Landing in Frankfurt with a layover for a few hours was filled by a lovely lunch up in the hills a few miles from the city.  I was revived from the trip from Toronto.  I liked the hotels this time as well.  Mona and I would have enjoyed the theatre in Split but would have liked if it could have been arranged for us.(A little lazy!)  Hamlet was playing.  All and all I thought it was a wonderful trip which has left me with many fond memories.  The hotel in Oberammergau was so convenient and the tickets for the Play were fantastic.       The meals were always nice and the final dinner was delicious.    Thanks!  Marg Hicks, Sask

Please  convey this message to whoever designed the cover for the June issue of "Experience our World".  The photo used is quite amazing actually, I did see it first in the photo contest section of the website.  I think something like this inspires wannabee photographers to look out for unique scenes and occurrences during their travels at least, that is how I am affected.  Cheers!  JD
