PERU – LAND OF THE INCAS
Join
us November 12 -27 this year, for a thrilling journey through one of
the most diverse countries in South America. Peru! Old blends with
new; high mountain terrain contrasts with the coastal plains; wealthy
mansions give way to neighbouring brick mud homes; bustling cities
contrast with the slow paced life in the countryside and the cruelty of
a tragic history is surpassed by the genuine warmth of a people with a
zest for love and life.
The highlights of this exceptional itinerary
are not one or two, but many. Awesome Machu Picchu is a destination in
itself. The mysterious Nasca Plains in the southern desert of Peru is
another must see where we will find a puzzling expanse of geoglyphs, or
earth drawings, known as the Nazca lines. Covering 200-square-miles they
consist of both geometric designs and huge figures that depict animals,
birds, fish and insects. Because of their size (the smallest animal
figure is 80 feet long, while the largest, a stylized heron, is 900
feet) the designs are best seen from the air. Though they are presumed
to have been created by the Nazca Indians around 2,000 years ago, little
is known about their purpose or meaning. We will also explore the
Sacred Valley with itys unique markets and Inca stone houses dating back
over 500 years. Discover the beautifully restored colonial buildings
of Cusco and the floating isles of Lake Titicaca. This is a journey for
those wishing to experience a new culture, ancient sites, magnificent
