 TRAVEL HINTS Travel
stores are selling you things you can get for free. A number of items
you might typically throw away make excellent replacements for expensive
travel products. Bubble wrap - to protect bottles from breakage, cut the wrap to fit a bottle and wrap around that nice bottle of Merlot. Free samples
- Travel sized toiletries can cost upwards of $4 a piece. Many
department stores offer sample sizes for free, or you can sign up for
samples on a company's website to send by mail. Old pillowcases - make a great laundry bag, shoe bag, or extra protector for some fine purchases. Old wallet
- my favourite: keep an old wallet with you, some small change and an
expired credit card. Keep all the important things in your money belt.
If a thief wants your valuables, toss the old one at him and run. EU DECLARES VACATIONS A HUMAN RIGHT
The
EU has declared that vacations are a human right and plans to subsidize
holidays for pensioners, youths and those too poor to travel. "Travelling
for tourism today is a right. The way we spend our holidays is a
formidable indicator of our quality of life," EU commissioner Antonio
Tajani told a group of ministers on April 15th at the European Tourism
Stakeholders Conference. Under Tajani's plan taxpayers would foot up
to 30% of the travel bill, while vacationers would be encouraged to
visit different regions of Europe to learn about their neighbours and
boost local economies. The plan will be operated as a pilot project
through 2013. Expected to cost hundreds of millions of Euros, it will be
open to pensioners and anyone over 65, young people between 18 and 25,
disabled people, and families facing "difficult social, financial or
personal" circumstances.

PASSIVE OR EXPERIENTIAL TRAVEL
During a recent office strategy meeting, the topic came up regarding whether or not to include a
specific visit to a cattle station in Australia's outback and a bush
dinner prepared by the station cook. The roads are dusty and the ride
is very bumpy, though the coaches used are the best available in this
part of the country. The journey to this site is fairly long, but
necessary in order to experience the real outback, a vast, lonely,
beautiful region. We do believe that our group members travel with us to truly experience
a destination, to learn about the ways of life, in addition to simply
visiting the tourist sites. To truly experience and understand a
destination, its' culture, its' people, one needs to live it, feel it,
taste, smell and hear it….in other words, experience it! It's something we strive for in all of our journey's and something which we feel sets us apart.
VOYAGE TO THE NEW WORLD
What
must it have been like for those first pioneers who ventured across the
Atlantic in hopes of building a new life in a strange land? While the
anticipation of a new life in the "land of milk and honey" must have
been thrilling, surely it was, at the same time, somewhat terrifying. Read on

VOYAGE TO THE NEW WORLD...Cont'd
And
one thing we know for sure, the sea voyage was not one of luxury,
pampering and spacious quarters with colour TV's, ensuite bathrooms,
private balconies and spa treatments. And there were no stops at
exciting ports of call along the way. Then, the journey was the only
means to get from point A to B; a voyage where the excitement was in
reaching the other side. Now, Transatlantic voyages are journeys of
discovery and exploration along the way and the pleasure is in the
voyage itself.
Today, luxurious cruise ships re-position
themselves in spring and fall and offer passengers an ideal opportunity
to cruise at bargain prices, experience ports of call on both sides of
the Atlantic, savour relaxing days at sea, enjoy pampering,
entertainment, fine dining and the countless amenities offered onboard.
Plus, there is only one long distance flight involved, a huge
attraction for many.
We are offering just such a sailing with
Holland America for 23 days, from November 7 to 29 onboard the lovely ms
Prinsendam, formerly the legendary Royal Viking Sun. And this is no
ordinary skip across the ocean! After an overnight flight to Athens,
Greece, we set sail to explore ten historic and fascinating ports in
Italy, Spain and Portugal, following by seven glorious days of cruising
ending in Ft. Lauderdale. And the fully inclusive pricing is
unbeatable! Visit our website for complete details, but don't wait too long to grab space on this sailing! Learn more
