The
long awaited sequel to Phantom of the Opera opens in London on March 9,
2010. The new Andrew Lloyd Webber production continues the story of
"The Phantom", who has moved from his lair in the Paris Opera House to
haunt the fairgrounds of Coney Island, far across the Atlantic.

OBERAMMERGAU'S 'PASSION PLAY' PERFORMERS VISIT ISRAEL
In
September, the main performers, together with the executive team, three
journalists and two priests from Oberammergau, Germany, participated in
a trip to Israel. For Christian St�ckl, principal director, and Otto
Huber, dramatic adviser and deputy director, the trip to Israel had two
main purposes. Firstly, the performers were able to look intensively
into the history of Jesus, his life and work. Moreover, by visiting the
places where Jesus lived, the performers were able to understand the
background in a better way and thus enhance their play later on. The
group was accompanied by priest Thomas Frauenlob, who, in 2006, was
assigned by the Pope to accompany him to Rome.
The trip included
visits to the Sea of Galilee, Bethlehem, Haifa, and Nazareth as well as
important places in Jerusalem, as for instance the Mount of Olives, the
Wailing Wall and the Temple Mount. The crew attended mass at St. Anne's
Church that, as tradition says, is the birthplace of Jesus' mother
Mary. They also visited the Church of Dormition, site of the Last
Supper on Mount Zion, just outside the walls of Jerusalem's Old City.
Moreover, a visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where it is said
Jesus was crucified and entombed, was also part of the Jerusalem tour.
Together with Abba Naor, a Latvian Holocaust survivor, the group also
visited the Holocaust memorial place Yad Vashem.
The organizers are
certain that visiting Israel before the Passion Play rehearsals started
earlier this month, was an important experience for the performers in
helping them prepare for their roles.
SOUTH AFRICAN THANK YOU
For
the past 3 years, Craig Travel and our clients have donated over
$15,000 to a soup kitchen near Plettenberg Bay in South Africa. This
kitchen provides daily meals of soup and bread to hundreds of children
and adults; meals which are the only meal of the day for many. Edna
Light, the project's founder in South Africa writes:
Since our
winter always brings extra demands for food, your gift could not have
been more timely. Thank you so much. I am not sure how to convey our
thanks to your clients who so loyally support our cause, but trust that
you will do so on our behalf. We have an increasing number of TB and
HIV positive people to whom we deliver food as they are too weak to
walk the distance to the soup kitchen and any additional income over
our budget enables us to purchase extra small items for them. There is
also now an after-school care facility for some of the children and we
supply their food also. Thank you for your partnership with us in this
very worthwhile project. We certainly could not cope without our
friends abroad."
