COSTA RICA Sunshine Isnt the Only Reason to Visit

RESERVE BY NOV 30 & SAVE $400 PER PERSON!
A winter get away to a warm climate is something most of us crave, but when you can combine warm weather with the tropical splendour and natural beauty of a country that is determined to preserve its natural heritage more than any other country in the world, it's definitely worth at least one visit in a lifetime. It has gained special favour among "green-minded" or eco-travelers. Costa Rica has successfully developed a unique travel product that promises enriching experiences while promoting human and environmental health.
The country is home to a rich variety of plants and animals. While it has only about 0.1% of the world's land mass, it contains 5% of the world's biodiversity. Around 25% of the country's land area is in protected national parks and protected areas, the largest percentage of protected areas in the world. One national park that is internationally renowned among ecologists for its biodiversity (including big cats and tapirs) and where visitors can expect to see an abundance of wildlife is the Corcovado National Park.
Another treasured national park is Tortuguero. The name Tortuguero can be translated as "Full of Turtles." The park is home to spider, howler, and white-throated Capuchin monkeys; the three-toed sloth; 320 species of birds; and a variety of reptiles. It is recognized for the annual nesting of the endangered green turtle and is the most important nesting site for the species. Giant leatherback, hawksbill, and loggerhead turtles also nest there.
The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is home to about 2,000 plant species, including numerous orchids. Over 400 types of birds and over 100 species of mammals can be found here as well. As a whole, around 800 species of birds have been identified in Costa Rica.
To experience Costa Rica with its eco-tourism, its beaches and its people, it is important to have a balanced amount of time for guided sightseeing and free time to explore on your own. To learn about our Costa Rica Natural Wonders tour departing February 8 Click here

INTO THE HEART OF WEST AFRICA

RESERVE BY NOV 30 & SAVE $500 PER PERSON!
If you are like me, you will have heard of the legendary city of Timbuktu since you were a small child. Indeed, you may even have dreamed of visiting there one day. The name itself conjures up images of great explorers, heading off across the vast Sahara desert in search of unimagined wealth, mysterious peoples and cultures. This is your opportunity to fulfill those childhood fantasies without all the hardships of the explorers of old.
This coming February 10th, we will depart on a journey of discovery into the Heart of West Africa. Our small group will not only discover the reality of this mythical destination (please do not expect streets paved in gold while the city contains some wonderful architecture and nomad peoples, the Tuareg, living as they have for centuries, it contains little in the way of wealth imagined by the early explorers). We shall also explore the shores of the Niger, the largest river in this part of Africa; we will see an architectural gem the Grand Mosque of Djenne, made entirely of mud bricks and we shall spend several days exploring the lands of the Dogon, with their unique culture and homes. Crossing into the neighbouring country of Burkina Faso (formerly the Upper Volta), we shall have ample opportunity to see, share and learn of the lifestyles of the countryside.
Our journey has been planned to provide insights into the people of these lands, to see how they live, and to learn of their wonderful music and unique lifestyles. While this is an exploratory journey into a region that is new to tourism, we shall enjoy the best available accommodations, a comfortable coach, good food (the French were here in colonial days and while they were not great administrators, they did leave behind a heritage of French cuisine) and excellent local guides. Learn more and join David & Roslyn Craig on this exotic adventure!.

INDIA 'It's Warmer in India & So Are the People'

RESERVE BY NOV 30 & SAVE $300 PER PERSON!
Canadian Director for India Tourism, Ronjon Lahiri, is confident that visitors to his country will find it a rewarding and fascinating experience. "India offers cosmopolitan cities, culture, cuisine, colour and breathtaking natural beauty." The country has more Himalayan peaks than any other; jungles, large deserts and a long coastline that lures beach enthusiasts and those who love water sports. The different landscapes are home to countless impressive and different structures, underscored by the likes of the Taj Mahal, built by a Moghul ruler as a sign of his love and devotion to his wife. The desert terrain of Rajasthan, for instance, has many imposing forts reflecting the wealth of the maharajahs that once ruled, while northern Ladakh has lofty Buddhist monasteries.
India is a land of festivals, held in cities and rural areas alike, where visitors may watch and participate, see how bangles and silverware are made, view the weaving of carpets, learn the customs and meet the locals. People in rural India often have less contact with tourists than those in cities and so are particularly welcoming. You will come to understand why there is truth in India's promotional slogan, "It is warmer in India and so are the people."
