THERE’S SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT YOUR OWN “PRIVATE GROUP”
It's always fun when friends get together and the topic gets around to travel (and it almost always does!). How many times have you heard people say, "sometime we should get a group of friends and go to…together"? Or, "wouldn't it be nice if the whole family could go to ……..together?"
Not sure how to go about it? Don't want the work and stress of planning? Think your group is too small? Call us! Group travel is what we do and we'd love to create and plan your private group! We have land operators in destinations around the world with whom we've worked for many years and they would greet your private group like family!

TUSCANY - LAND OF SURPRISES
Tuscany is a land of interesting landscapes and compelling medieval hilltowns, a center for Renaissance art and architecture, and a producer of the finest wines in Italy. Tuscany is the land of Michelangelo, da Vinci, Giotto, Puccini, Boccaccio, and Gallileo -- but it is also more than that. Although it is in real terms a tiny place, with its huge cornucopia of goodies, it's like the biggest sweetshop one has ever dreamed of! If you're into painting, sculpture, or architecture, Tuscany's got it in spades! If you're into rambling and viewing the countryside, Tuscany has the glories of the undulating hills of the south and the spectacular craggy cliffs of the north. If you're into wine and food, Tuscany is unsurpassed. If you're into churches and history, it all happened in Tuscany from 800 AD when Pisa was one of the three most important cities in the world, to Savaranola's Bonfire of the Vanities in 1497. If you want wonderful cities, can anywhere challenge Florence, Pisa, Siena or Lucca? If you want smaller towns, Montepulciano, San Gimignano and Montalcino are but a few stunning places to visit. If you want classical music, nowhere has opera like Tuscany (well, it was invented here in 1250 or so). If you want to take to the waters, the spas of Montecatini, Chianciano and Bagni di Lucca have the complete range from mud to liver restoring mineral water plus the massage that goes with it. If your thing is beaches and sunshine, the Tuscan Riviera is at least 150 miles long. Garden lovers need go no further. The Tuscan Villas near Florence Lucca and Siena often are featured in authoritative books on garden design.

The greatest pleasure in Tuscany is its ability to continually surprise the visitor. For those who return year after year and think they've seen it all, they just need to round another bend and they will be surprised once again! Learn more

40th ANNIVERSARY CRUISE A HUGE SUCCESS

Our private charter of the beautiful ms Amalegro for our 40th anniversary celebration cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest was a wonderful success. All 144 passengers enjoyed immensely the magnificent countryside and historic medieval cities and breathtaking scenery, all the while enjoying the luxury and hospitality of ms Amalegro. Said David " The accommodations are extremely comfortable and spacious, the public rooms lovely and the cuisine is exceptionally special".
Our group members were thrilled as well….
"This was our best experience to date as we weren't expecting such luxury and care on the ship. Every day was packed with wonderful experiences – walks in medieval cities, wine tasting, different kinds of music, meals that were great, as were the lectures from the Cruise Director and Captain. We are definitely up for another river cruise!"

"The ship was really a "home away from home" with such a friendly crew and excellent Cruise Director. The amenities and food presentation certainly was beyond my expectations. Individual audio system was wonderful. Thank you too, for the extras – Keukenhof, Rothenburg and the Vienna concert, which added so much to the trip."

"It was a great experience being with all Canadian Craig travelers and having the entire Craig family looking out for us."

There is limited space on our two Danube sailings on the ms Amadante this fall and great savings too!

TURKEY....THE ROOTS OF CHRISTIANITY

Without a doubt, Turkey is one of the least known and yet most fascinating of countries. It is surrounded by seas on three sides and is a natural bridge linking Asia to Europe. Learn more

IRELAND....CONT'D

For many, Ireland has an almost magical lure. Few places outside of the tropics are as green. It has rolling hills and meadows with fuchsias growing at the side of the road and many miles of unspoiled, rugged coastline. Dwellings range from ancient castles and Georgian mansions to quaint cottages and humble farmhouses.
An island 300 miles long and 170 miles wide or slightly larger than West Virginia, it has a total population of approximately 6 million. The Republic of Ireland has been a free state since winning independence from the UK in 1922. The struggles for independence have been celebrated in song, story and film.
Ireland is a nation of storytellers. Although Gallic is disappearing as a spoken language, its charming rhythms and convoluted, coiled back sentences enrich the English of the many writers and storytellers throughout the country.
Irish history encompasses great literary and social achievement as well as dire hardship and suffering. As recently as the 1960s, most of its people lived in rural areas, but many changes have occurred since then. Today Ireland is among the most prosperous countries of the world with a GDP second only to Luxembourg in the European Union. It ranks eighth, between Switzerland and Belgium and ahead of the U.S., in the United Nations Human Development Index, which considers such factors as life expectancy, educational level and adjusted real income.
We invite you to visit this gorgeous Emerald Isle with us, September 4 – 19

TURKEY...CONT'D

In the north western corner of the country is magnificent Istanbul, the city extending on the two sides of the Bosphorus Strait, offering a natural beauty and mixing modern times with remains of far-reaching history, a city which was the capital city of the Ottoman Empire for hundreds of years.
Izmir is the largest city located on the sea-coast of Aegean Sea which lies along the western coast of Turkey. Here there are many peaceful bays and modern holiday resorts, such as Kusadasi and Bodrum on the coast.
The remnants of the famous ancient city of Troy lie along the northern and central areas of this Aegean region. In fact, there are 9 Troys, all were built on top of the older one in different periods of history. You know the famous wooden horse and the love story of beautiful Helen and Paris happened in Troy which caused wars in this region in ancient times. You can see the replica of the historic horse here.
Pergamon stands on this region's high mount. Ephesus, called Asia Minor in Roman times is famous for its gorgeous library which still stands and its enormous open-air theatre and the remains of the houses of the time, all which attract great numbers of tourists every year. The grave of St. John the Evangelist who came to Ephesus with Mary in her last years, is in this region.
In the south, the Mediterranean coast stretches to the Aegean Sea along the South Western part of Turkey, mixing the green pine forests with the beautiful bright blue color of the sea, giving this spectacular sea-shore its name; the Turquoise Coast. Numerous small islands and coves along the coast, with breathtaking pristine sandy beaches make this seacoast ideal for sailing and yachting.
You might want to visit the historic city of Antalya which is located at the centre of the Turquoise Coast, under spectacular coastal mountains. The old city is situated on a hill top overlooking a busy harbour. In Antalya, you can ski on mountain tops in the morning and swim in the Turquoise waters at a pristine beach in the afternoon on the same day. Near the eastern part of the city, 18km from Antalya lie the ruins of another ancient city, Perge, which was an important city in Pamphylia, a Hittite city around 1,500 B.C. It's known that St. Paul stopped here on his way to Rome in 46 A.D.
You may also visit the restored remains of the magnificent Roman theater Aspendos nearby Antalya, built by the renowned Roman architect Xenon in the 2nd Century, A.D. with a capacity of an audience of 15,000 people, still famous for its outstanding acoustics and still hosting opera and ballet festivals every year.
The Northern region of Turkey stretches along the Black Sea. This region is covered by Hazelnut bushes and tea groves.
Turkey offers numerous natural wonders, among them are the unique scenery of the travertines of Pamukkale (cotton castle) and the ancient city of Aphrodisias with its beautifully carved statues, acknowledged as among the best of the ancient world. In central Anatolia, the amazing moonlike landscape of Cappadocia with its houses and early churches carved in the massive rocks offer an unforgettable sight.
A Turkish vacation is sure to be a fascinating learning experience and one which offers excellent value, one of the best values in all of Europe.
